Man Arrested for Hitting Disney World Security Guard Over Face Mask Policy

It’s not always the happiest place on Earth.

A Florida man became irate over the mask policy at Walt Disney World and wound up getting arrested after smacking a security guard in the head, reported People.

On August 14th, Enrico Toro, 35, arrived at Disney's Epcot Center with his wife and three children.

Upon making their way to the check-in area, the group was turned away by security guards because their face masks didn’t meet the park’s requirements.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, guests at the theme parks are required to face masks without valves, holes or mesh. In addition, they must be secured by loops or ear ties. Neck gaiters and bandanas are also not allowed.

The family went to their car to get proper face coverings, but upon returning to the check-in area they were stopped again because one of the children still didn’t have the right type of mask, according to the incident report, the outlet noted.

Toro became agitated, started cussing and told a 29-year-old security guard, “call the police, they will have to shoot me to leave,” per the incident report.

When the security guard reached for his phone to call a supervisor, Toro allegedly smacked him across the head with his open hand.

Toro’s wife pulled him away, but the father of three continued cursing at the guard and “began threatening that he knew where he lived and was going to kill him."

Multiple witnesses confirmed to police that they saw the incident go down and watched Toro strike the guard.

Toro was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery.

Walt Disney World recently announced that they would begin scaling back hours of operations at their Orlando theme parks beginning September 8.

Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studio, Disney's Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT are all set to shorten their hours with the first three closing an hour earlier than normal and EPCOT closing two hours earlier.

The updated hours are as follows:
