“Moment for Life” was sampled from Slick, Sly and Wicked 1972 record “Confessin A Feelin” which didn’t find commercial success in the pop culture world, but it was heard by producer T-minus who used some of the track to create Nicki Minaj ‘s single “Moment for Life.

Slick, Sly and Wicked is a Cleveland blues band who is signed to the late great soul singer James Brown ‘s label. They even wrote some of his hit singles.

The band has been inducted into the Motown Alumni Association Hall of Fame and continues to tour the world.

Nicki Minaj is currently preparing for her second studio album Roman Reloaded which is expected to hit the shelves April of this year. The album features a star studded line up including David Guetta, Lil Wayne and more that has yet to be announced.

Wise words from Kanye West and completely fitting, considering that the rapper/fashion mogul has topped People Magazine’s list of the “10 Best Albums of the Century… So Far.”

Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, featuring the hits “Runaway,” “POWER,” “Monster” and “All Of the Lights,” sits atop People Magazine‘s Best Albums of the Century list.

Last night on The Voice, the star-studded coaching panel was tasked with pitting their teammates against each other in a series of sing-off battles.

Once all is said and done, each coach will take 6 proteges with them to the live shows.

And even though this is only the first of several battle round episodes, the performers sure didn’t hold back!

The two country cuties faced off last night and we were so impressed with how much they’ve improved since the blind auditions.

Adley has a raw and incredible power to her voice, but RaeLynn is a master at phrasing and pacing herself.

TEAM CEE LO: Angie Johnson vs. Cheesa – “Total Eclipse of the Heart”

It was a battle of the divas for Team Cee Lo and both ladies brought it.

Angie Johnson is one of Carson’s personal favorites. He hooked her up with a blind audition after a video of her singing went viral on the internet, but was her power ballad belt good enough to put her through to the next round?

TEAM CHRISTINA: Jesse Campbell vs.  Anthony Evans – “If I Ain’t Got You”

Wow. Just wow. Do yourself a favor and watch this performance right now.

It’s quite possibly the best performance we’ve ever seen in a singing competition.

It’s such a shame that one of them had to be sent home! We don’t know how Christina was able to make that final call!

“Single life is so overrated,” she complained. ”It sucks. I have such incredible experiences in my life. You don’t want to live your life and then meet someone. You want to share your life with someone. That’s what I’m missing right now.”

Calvin Harris is most famous in the United States right now for his amazing work on Rihanna‘s “We Found Love,” but the Scottish DJ, singer-songwriter, and producer has two gold-certified albums in the United Kingdom.

On the sky-high wings of this international success, including a slot to perform at musical festival Coachella, Harris has been releasing a polished string of singles from his upcoming album.

The latest is a joint with R&B soothsayer, Ne-Yo, appropriately called “Let’s Go.”

All of us on the AMP Radio morning show are huge fans of local news station KTLA.

When you walk into the studio during Carson’s shift, 9 times out of 10, you’ll find us watching Frank Buckley, Sam Rubin, Mark Kriski, and the whole gang.

So imagine our surprise when last week, they made an on-air plea to Carson begging him to loan them one of the famous coaches’ chairs from The Voice!

Well, Carson pulled a few strings and hooked them up!

Before performing “Talk That Talk” from her album of the same name, Rihanna got raw talking about the innate competitiveness of women, the different views on sexuality depending on culture, and her continuance of her New Year’s Resolutions to snag herself a boyfriend and continue her movie career.

RiRi is tired of being single. She’s really to mingle.  Said the star:

“There are not any plans right now,” he told Fader magazine. “We’re not on the roster or on a schedule with a label to put out an OutKast album. I can’t say if or when we will, but I’m going to be in OutKast forever in some kind of way. I can’t really say OutKast is over so it always trips me out when these things get on the internet…”

While the OutKast reunion plans remain up in the air, 3000 did speak on his solo project.

“I’m actually putting myself on deadlines more than ever,” he said. “I don’t have someone policing that…I’m looking at it like, Okay, I don’t want to be like 40 years old and to haven’t done this album.”

OutKast, which is primarily comprised of Big Boi and Andre 3000, has produced six studio albums as a group. The last Outkast album was Idlewild (2006), which also served as a soundtrack for the movie in which OutKast starred. –E. Parker, CBS Local

So for today’s Food Truck Friday, who better to invite than Bacon MANia?

The truck prides itself on serving unabashedly American, unapologetic man food, so of course we had to check out the situation for ourselves…you know, for professional purposes!

Husband and wife duo Jay and Karen got cooking bright and early to feed all of us on the morning show crew.

Bacon MANia got its start a little differently from most of the other food trucks roaming the streets of LA these days.

Jay and Karen made it a personal goal to visit every single NFL stadium in the country with their kids.

Along the way, they learned the art of tailgating. And throughout every city they visited, the one universal ingredient was bacon. Eventually, they became masters of the grill, learning different cooking techniques from every region of the country.

When they returned home from their journey, Jay says a crazy neighbor convinced them to start up Bacon MANia and it’s been non-stop ever since!

Bacon MANia serves up a little bit of everything – sandwiches, fries, soup, desserts, but they all come with a healthy helping of, yes, you guessed it, bacon.

But this isn’t just any bacon. It’s thick, delicious applewood smoked pepper bacon fried to perfection. Jay says it’s all about getting the best ingredients and he changes his menu regularly to reflect what’s in season.

The Bacon MANia crew made so much food, we couldn’t manage to eat it all ourselves. That’s why Carson decided to surprise one AMP Radio listener with a free meal.

Shout out to Jessica in Costa Mesa…she’ll be feasting on a free lunch with her entire office!

That means Carson will pass along her music to the producers of legit version of The Voice and maybe, just maybe, she’ll score a blind audition for the real deal!

You’d be hard-pressed to find another producer as prolific as Mark Burnett.

With The Voice, Survivor, Celebrity Apprentice, Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader, Expedition Impossible, and Shark Tank all on the air, he’s one of the very few to have a renewed series on each of the 4 major networks.

Since The Voice is poised to begin its cutthroat battle rounds in the next few days, Carson figured it was a perfect time to get his boss Mark on the phone so we could get a little preview of what’s going down!

On the most recent episode of The Voice, the blind auditions wrapped up and now coaches Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, and Blake Shelton each have 12 singers on their teams.

With the help of some superstar mentors like Kelly Clarkson and Ne-Yo, the coaches will prepare their proteges for the battle rounds, which is a sing-off against 2 members on the same team. Then, their own coach has to decide who advances to the next round.

Team Cee Lo is chock full of talent and Carson shared with us a little preview of the battle between YouTube sensation Staff Sergeant Angie Johnson and the soulful Cheesa:

Mark Burnett is the executive producer for The Voice and this morning, he talked about the conflicting nature of the battle rounds. It’s a competition, obviously, but at the same time, the singers have to work together to produce a perfect performance:

I think it’s a great manifestation of how we should all treat each other. It’s a competition. There’s a lot at stake, but they do respect each other. They have to do justice to the song, justice to Cee Lo, to The Voice, to each other. And it just shows you, there’s a way to play hard and try to win without disrespecting others.

That’s not to say that things don’t get tense from time to time. During the blind auditions, you could sense the competitive nature between all the coaches, but Mark claims it’s healthy:

You can get a family, they all love each other. You play a board game around the holidays and it can really get heated! It doesn’t mean you don’t like each other and that’s this balance and that’s the chemistry and the energy that comes from The Voice.

Perhaps this sense of family on set stems from his beliefs as a devoted husband and father. Even with a full plate of successful series, Mark’s a total family man. He eats breakfast every morning with his wife and children and when he leaves the office for the day, he actually turns off his Blackberry!

If people really need me, they’ll track me down. There’s nothing more annoying than being around people who are on their devices all the time.

“We shot the cover in January,” said Steven Gomillion, who, along with Dennis Leupold, makes up one half of the Fortune photography team Gomillion and Leupold. “But he knew before the last album came out what this one would look like. He thinks so far ahead.”

On his new album cover, a bespectacled Chris Brown poses in a sleek blue suit, alongside futuristic symbols-meant to represent “F-O-R-T-U-N-E”.

“The funny thing about that blue is it basically just happened,” Gomillion said via phone. “It matched the suit and it gives kind of a futuristic vibe. You’ll see blue throughout the packaging.”

Aside from the album cover image, Gomillion and Leupold guarantee the overall album packaging will be groundbreaking.

“Courtney Walter [Art Director] and Chris came up with the hieroglyphics that you see on the cover,” Gomillion said. “And the hieroglyphic writing is going to let the fans send coded messages to each other, like back in the day when you could get a decoder in a cereal box. Not only will the album packaging be the biggest he’s ever seen, but according to Gomillion, it will be a collector’s item.

“I can’t go into too many details,” Gomillion said. “But it will give you a lifestyle of the artist, not just a few pictures inside. It’s going to be something no one has ever seen.”

Both photographers agree that Brown had a distinct vision, which came through in his album art and fashion.

“When he wants something he goes into details,” Leupold said. “There is no compromising on it. So if he has to fly it in from Japan, that’s what we will do.”

Last night, Brown took to Twitter to make his big reveal concerning his fourth studio album.

Week 3

This week it’s all about finding that perfect shoe.  We’re talking over 13 miles here for the San Diego Half Marathon, I need my footsies feeling top notch.  So with 3 weeks of training under my belt I ventured out to Arch And Sole on La Brea to find that perfect shoe.  These guys know their stuff!

I spoke with Mahmoud, the owner and he knew it all, very knowledgeable.  He was all about making your shoe buying experience comfortable, so when it’s go time and YOU start that Marathon, you’re all set.

I’m not gonna lie, he really new his stuff and used specific important words, (that I can’t remember) so I’ll keep it simple.  Pretty much my foot is on the more narrow side and my arch is high.  Shoe size is about a 10 and we went with a 10 ½ so there’s room to grow during the 13 mile run.  He had me try on 3 different shoe styles and walk around the store.  I did a little shufflin, just in case we celebrate and  dance after the Marathon.

After some serious party rocking in the shoe store I ended up going with BROOKS Ghost 4 Evolution.  They’re yellow and black and make my feet feel like they’re on vacation.  Plus, they make me run as fast as a cheetah (not really).   I also wanted to make sure my feet weren’t working up too much of a sweat so I picked up some FEATURES Performance socks.  These bad boys help with NO Blisters and have the seamless toe.

During her introduction, Oprah described Lady Gaga as “one of the most influential forces of our time today” before Gaga discussed the mission behind the non-profit.

“The three pillars are SSO. If you could remember these things today it would make me very, very happy,” she told the audience. “It’s safety, skills and opportunity.”

Gaga said she wants everyone to feel safe in their community and to develop the skills that are needed to be a loving, accepting and tolerant person. Additionally, she hopes that these sentiments are injected into all the people around them.

“I believe once you feel safe in your environment and you acquire the skills to be a loving and accepting person, the opportunities for you are endless to become a great functioning human in society,” she said. “The culture of love is not going to change overnight but youth are the answer to creating a braver, kinder world.”

BTWF will address issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development through research, education and advocacy.

After the suicide of bullied New York teen Jamey Rodemeyer, Gaga has been on a mission to make bullying illegal. As a result, the non-profit will create an environment that allows youth to safely express their individuality and one that provides them with the skills needed to encourage self-expression and promote civic engagement.

BTWF hopes to create an environment where “each individual is accepted and loved as the person they were born to be.”

A humble brag is when someone says something that’s obviously bragging, but they try to tone it down by following it up with a self-deprecating comment.
