The 52nd Grammy Award Nominees Annouced With A Concert!
Beyonce, Britney Spears, Eminem, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, News & Gossip
LL Cool J started off the Grammy Nomination Concert with a rap medley that highlighted some of the best songs of 2009 featuring music by the AMP artists’ Lady Gaga, The Black Eyed Peas, Beyonce, and Taylor Swift. If LL’s intended to send a message to viewers that he’s still got it, it was delivered.

Without wasting any time, LL Cool J introduced the Black Eyed Peas who performed part of “I’ve Got A Feeling” and invited viewers to send in a more
After the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, the 2009 American Music Awards had a lot to live up to in terms of drama and performances. Luckily, Lady Gaga & Jennifer Lopez did what they could, with Lady Gaga wearing a nude body suit while smashing glass and playing a burning piano, and Jennifer Lopez stumbling during her performance.

More important than the performances are the winners and losers. The big winners of the evening were the late Michael Jackson, taking home four AMA’s to his new home in the sky and songbird Taylor Swift swooping in and earning five awards (no one got on stage during any of her acceptance speeches). Perhaps, the big “whoa” moment last night happened courtesy of Adam Lambert, who puckered up onstage with a male dancer. Check out the list of winners and losers and let us know if you think anyone was snubbed or forgotten in the comments!

US Magazine has released the never before seen video documenting what they call the beginning of Michael Jackson’s addiction to pain killers, after Michael caught on fire during the making of a commercial for Pepsi in 1984.

There has been some controversy as to whether outlets like US Magazine should be allowed to release media like this that has been hidden for so long to the public. Do you think it’s disrespectful to highlight this moment in Michael’s life?
Watch (or don’t watch) the video and decide for yourself:
This week Lady Gaga arrived in Malta for the Isle of MTV and donned during an interview her latest fashion accessory: a mask which she stated was ”an item of contemporary art.”There has been a lot of chatter whether this mask was in homage to Michael Jackson. We’ll let you be the judge of that.
Watch the rest of the interview below where she talks about the late “Michaell Jackson” and also states she is “obsessed with the clothes she found in sex shops.”

Now here is is Michael Jackson wearing this.

We’re wondering is this outfit an homage to the King of Pop?
Check out the press conference …. you may need to turn up your speakers to hear her talk thru the mask:

Not all of Michael Jackson’s friends attended the memorial service at the Staples Center yesterday, but many of them did chose to tweet their respects:
- Paris Hilton: ‘In tears watching the MJ Memorial Service on TV, so touching. Everyone loves you Michael!’
- Paula Abdul: ‘Remembering MJ and the true legend that he was and will live on to be… I’m taking some time to reflect today.’
- Kelly Osborne: ‘MJ’s children are so brave to stand up there and remember their father while the whole world is watching!’
- Brandy: ‘Michael Jackson will forever inspire my soul and forever live in my heart. He is an angel that can now see his wings. R.I.P’
Some that attended tweeted from the service as well:
- Kim Kardashian: ‘Michael’s children were so brave brave 2 stand there on stage & speak to the world about their father…I spoke at my dad’s funeral & it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I was shaking & crying & what Paris did was sooo soooo brave!’
- Diddy: ‘Just left funeral. Very sad! Rip MJ!!!’
- Nick Cannon: ‘A day of mourning. Here in the Staples Center, God is absolutely present.’

The memorial tribute for King of Pop, Michael Jackson, was as extravagant and over-the-top as his life was. The memorial service, called “Michael Jackson Remembered,” was more like a concert rather than a funeral. CNN estimated that millions of people tuned in to watch Michael’s famous friends and family make speeches, performances and give thanks to the King of Pop who not only transformed music and entertainment through his incredible talent, but opened doors for those who still follow.
Mariah Carey, Andrae Crouch Choir, Berry Gordy (the founder of Motown), Jennifer Hudson, Magic Johnson, Queen Latifah, Kobe Bryant, Martin Luther King III, Bernice A. King, John Mayer, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Rev. Al Sharpton, Pastor Lucious Smith (family friend), Usher, Brooke Shields and Stevie Wonder made appearances, along with the entire Jackson family, including daughter Paris Jackson, 11.

Paris told the millions who watched the memorial service that her father, Michael Jackson was “the best father you could ever imagine.” The other speakers and presenters gave Michael credit for his great contributions to multiple charities around the world, contributions that earned him a spot in the Guinness book of world records for the most donations by a performer.

Famous friends including Brooke Shields, Queen Latifah and Magic Johnson took the Staples Center stage to share personal memories with the crowd. Queen Latifah shared a poem that Maya Angelou wrote for the occasion, and Brooke Shields choked up over Michael’s famous glove and perhaps not so famous sense of humor. Prior to the public memorial held at the Staples Center, there was a private service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Cemetary in the Hollywood Hills. This ceremony was for over a thousand close friends and family in a program called “Celebration of Life.” They mourned Michael in a closed casket ceremony. One thing is for sure: the world will not soon forget Michael Jackson’s life, music or charity, even if his career was at times overshadowed by scandal. He will live on through the millions of fans who have stayed captivated by his talent for over five decades.

Watch what Justin Timberlake had to say about the loss of Michael Jackson:
The Game, Diddy, Chris Brown, Boyz II Men, Usher, Mario Winans and Polow Da Don got together to record this tribute to Michael Jackson, called “Better On the Other Side.” We’re sure this won’t be the last tribute song recorded for the late King of Pop, as MJ has influenced artists and genres for decades.
Watch the video and read some of the lyrics below:
The Game raps:“People can say what they want to say about you, but we gon’ remember the miracles that you showed us, through your music, through your dance, through your philanthropy. You were the one that made us all realize that we are the world.”
“Let me take it back to ’85,
when I was in a zone
dancing for my momma,
‘Thriller’ jacket with the zippers on,
Now I’m doin 90,
’bout to crash in this Aston
listenin to OutKast,
‘I’m sorry Ms. Jackson’
Anything I can ever do to better you
Your son was our King so we gon’ Coretta you
I’m writin’ this letter to all of the Jackson kids,
we all Jackson kids,
time to let us through.”
Sad!
Michael’s funeral is tomorrow afternoon at the Staples Center. Check back at ampradio.com for coverage.
Scalpers have set up shop online to sell tickets to Michael Jackson’s memorial. With prices ranging anywhere from $15,000 to an eBay buy it now price of $20,000, Michael Jackson isn’t the only person to be disrespected here, as there are tons of people that want to pay their respects to the music icon, but were edged out by scalpers that got the luck of the draw.

Fans are outraged over the scalpers taking advantage of Michael Jackson from beyond the grave, saying that it’s a memorial and to scalp tickets is truly disrespectful to Michael Jackson and his family. Especially, as crazy as the Staples Center is going to be, selling tickets at insane prices is only going to fortify the madness by cheapening the memorial service. Many people are calling for something to be done and eBay is taking down the ads for tickets to Jackson’s memorial as quick as they can go up, but shouldn’t we call for more to be done to these people?
