Everyone: Meet Kid Sister; some people know her as Kanye West’s protégé, but I heard about her when she came out to Echo Park a few months ago.

 I was immediately hooked when I heard “Right Hand Hi” from her album Ultraviolet. Just to put the song in context: This is one of the songs I listen to when getting ready to start my weekend and I actually use the song as a tool to pump up my friends as we make our way to the club. After my initial introduction to Kid Sister I started looking into her music, which is when I discovered her song “Pro Nails” featuring Kanye West. If you think “Right Hand Hi” is catchy, wait till you hear Kid Sister rapping about getting her nails did!

Kanye West posted this sweet vid of the duo Chiddy Bang on his blog.  These guys are still young at heart, check it out!

Kanye posted the human bobble head-esque video from the rap duo Chiddy Bang for the song “Opposite of Adults.”  It has a “Peter Pan” mentality of not wanting to grow up and samples MGMT’s “Kids.”  Hmm, I see a theme running here…clever guys.

And then reflects on the life of a  rapper … and muses on the similarities between himself and the great  poets of this century.
 

“IT’S FUNNY HOW SO MANY RAPPERS GET WORSE AS THEIR CAREERS STRETCH OUT BUT TRUE POETS GET BETTER,” and places himself in the same ranks as the renown poets Maya Angelou, Gil Scott Heron and singer, Nina Simone saying as their “work improved with time,” that he too with time will improve.

In addition to Lady Gaga taking the coveted number one spot British sweetheart Lily Allen took third, Beyonce came in sixth and Kanye West had took tenth, rounding out the AMP artists in the Top 10.  More AMP artists infiltrated the list with Britney Spears in eleventh place, Taylor Swift at thirteen, the Black Eyed Peas at fifteen and Kelly Clarkson landing in the eighteenth spot.

Last.fm’s list was compiled from data received from listeners computers.  The website explains:

We compiled the list by looking at scrobbles for albums released between 1st October 2008 and 16th November 2009. We took out live albums, greatest hits collections, EP’s and singles before pulling them together into the lean, mean format you see before your eyes

Kid Cudi’s official statement does not blame the altercation with the fan or say anything about Lady Gaga, but it seems as thought it definitely has something to do with it.  Kid’s official statement explains:

Kid Cudi has decided to take an early leave of absence from Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball tour, in order to balance his schedule surrounding the recording of his next album and acting commitments.  Cudi does not want to disappoint his fans and will move forward with his individual show dates in December and throughout the month of January. –DREAM ON

First there was Kanye West taking a leave from Gaga’s tour after he made a scene at the 2009 Video Music Awards and now Kid Cudi is leaving the Monster Ball tour for personal reasons and scheduling conflicts.  Could it be that Lady Gaga refuses to put up with people’s bad behavior?  It certainly seems as though that might be the case.  Check out the video of the alleged incident and let us know if you think what Cudi did warranted being axed from the tour?

This time around, the pairing is mutual and deserved, as both artists have had incredible successful years according to Billboard’s year end charts. The most interesting twist to this shenanigan, comes in the details.  The reason Kanye West got on stage at the VMA’s was to tell the world he believed Beyonce had one of the best music videos of all time.  The person Taylor beat out for the female top spot is ironically Beyonce.

In the end, the charts dictated the true top dog of 2009, Taylor Swift, who beat out not only Beyonce but every other female recording artist.  Leading us to ask if Kayne West was wrong all along?  Do you think that Taylors mega success only came by way of public support after the VMA fiasco?  Or is her top dog status legitimate and reliant on her ability as an artist to woo audiences with her charm and talent?  Inspect the lists for Billboard’s Top Artists and let us know if it reflects your opinions as a listener!

Without wasting any time, LL Cool J introduced the Black Eyed Peas who performed part of “I’ve Got A Feeling” and invited viewers to send in a <!–20 second clip of themselves singing along to the song, which has the potential to be aired on the 52nd Grammy Awards Show on January 31st.

What happened after that was merely the unraveling of a devoted friend with good intentions and poor execution.  Beyonce finally addressed the issue while attending the Billboard magazine’s annual Women in Music event saying:

Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he’s like, ‘You have this award.’  And when they didn’t call my name he was, like, completely shocked. And when he walked on the stage, I was like, ‘No, no, no!’ and then he spoke, and I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no!’  But in the end, it ended up being a great night, and Taylor Swift did get her moment — and I didn’t have to make an acceptance speech.

Beyonce continues to be such a star in light of the situation, handling it with poise and grace.  She could have condemned her friend, but she simply stated the most basic of facts, Kanye West felt very powerfully about the award and suffered from a lack of judgment when he went up on stage.  In his effort to defend Beyonce he forced himself to look like the Big Bad Wolf, attacking innocent Taylor Swift.
