Jamie Foxx is having one of the best weeks of his life.  He not only performed at the GRAMMYs this past weekend, but he won the award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group and now his new album, Body is in stores.

The Oscar winning singer has had an incredibly diversified career.  He started out as a comedian on In Living Color and was best known for his man-crazy character Wanda.  From 1996 to 2001 Jamie starred in his own self entitled television show The Jamie Foxx Show.  By the end of the shows run he had established himself as a serious dramatic actor taking roles in such films as Any Given Sunday, Collateral, and the biopic Ray, which he won an Academy Award for.

Jamie’s music career began much earlier.  He started playing piano at the age of five and it has always been a passion of the actors.  His initial album Peep This was self released.  However, he did not receive any recognition for his talents until he was featured on the song “Slow Jamz”, by Twista also featuring Kanye West.  Since then Jamie has gone on to obtaining a GRAMMY as well as a releasing his third studio album, Body.  You can check it out and more on the Jamie Foxx radio station.

Rapper Young Jeezy’s latest studio effort Thug Motivation 103 hits stores today. In addition to producing three successful studio albums he’s managed to make himself one of the most sought after artists to collaborate with in hip-hop. However, Jeezy’s success did not blind him to the needs of the people around him. In 2005 he opened the doors of his home to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. He’s also been very involved in American politics and even performed in a concert with Jay-Z to celebrate the inauguration of President Barack Obama.

Young Jeezy started rapping in 2001 with Hip-Hop group USDA but it wasn’t until he became a member of Boyz n da Hood in 2005 that he garnished the recognition that he truly deserved. His perseverance and dedication to his craft paid off when he released, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, his solo effort in 2005 and it’s song “Soul Survivor” featuring Akon became a Top-10 hit in the U.S.

The success of Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101 allowed Jeezy to record and release two subsequent albums The Inspiration in 2006 and The Recession in 2008, which both had hit singles. However, it’s Jeezy’s collaborations with other artists that have gained him respect of the hip-hop community including the singles “I’m So Paid” with his friend Akon, “Say I” by Christina Millian, and “Love In This Club” by Usher, which became a number one single on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2008.

R&B artist Usher Raymond IV, most commonly known as Usher to his fans has had an illustriously successful career as a recording artist.  He’s sold over 40 million albums worldwide and has won five GRAMMY awards, including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals & Best Contemporary R&B Album.

In addition to his career as a musician, Usher also found success in starting his own record label, US Records, where he found and developed the image of teen sensation Justin Bieber.  Now Usher’s back with his latest album Raymond V. Raymond and he’s ready to prove he still has what it takes to be on top!

Usher began his professional career at the age of 13 when he participated on the talent show Star Search, which lead to him receiving an audition with L.A. Reid, the co-founder of LaFace records, where he signed with.  Usher received his first break when the song “Call Me A Mack,” was added to the soundtrack of the 1993 film Poetic Justice.  The next year LaFace released Usher’s first solo album Usher, which sold over 500,000 albums to date and resulted in the singles: “Can U Get Wit It”, “Think Of You”, and “The Many Ways.”

However, it wasn’t until the release of Usher’s second album My Way that his true star power was exposed by the success of his first single “You Make Me Wanna,” which was his first number one single, in addition to being a certified gold and platinum single in the U.S.  The extraordinary success of  My Way lead to the recording of the albums 8701 and Confessions, both albums established his selling power.  Now with the release of Usher’s fourth studio album Raymond V. Raymond Usher has returned to prove his staying power in the music industry.

Rapper Snoop Dog brought the izzle to the mainstream media, which was easy because he’s had one of the most sucessful careers as a mainstream rapper, affording him the ability switch mediums and act.  He was discovered by gangsta rapper and producer Dr. Dre.  They first worked together on the theme song for the film Deep Cover and later Dr. Dre’s debut album The Chronic.  His work with Dr. Dre put Snoop Dogg on the map and lead to the recording of his first album Doggystyle.

Doggystyle went quadruple platinum and stayed on the Billboard charts for many months.  The albums success was due, in fact, to the exposure that Snoop got from Dr. Dre and the hits “Gin & Juice” and “Who Am I (What’s My Name)?”  From that point, Snoop was solidified as a bonafied star in the West Coast G-funk hip hop scene and almost everything attached to his name found widespread success in the mainstream media.

Recently, Snoop starred in his own reality show, documenting his own life including his relationship with his wife and children.  In addition, he’s made more than 30 appearances in popular movies and television shows, performing in an array of roles.  To date, Snoop Dogg has been involved in 15-studio albums, including The Westcoast Blueprint, which was released this week.
