Lady Gaga has advocated for mental health since she came into the spotlight and recently talked with The Mirror about her personal struggles with anxiety and depression.

Gaga revealed her rise to fame had a serious impact on her mental health. ¬†She said, “I needed a moment to stabilize. When my career took off, I didn’t remember anything at all. It’s like I’m traumatized. I needed time to re-calibrate my soul.” She said she staged an intervention for herself in 2013 to encourage her to overcome her personal battles.

Even though Gaga admitted she uses medication to help with her anxiety, she said she wouldn’t recommend her young fans take antidepressants or mood stabilizers.
