Dwayne Reed couldn’t be more excited for his first year of teaching and he’s motivating his students in an adorable way.
The fourth grade instructor in Illinois opted to forgo the usual welcome back newsletter to parents and instead, he wrote a three-minute rap and performed it in a full-on music video!
“So we gotta keep it positive, that’s the key / Have respect for each other, and don’t forget me / Have respect for your selves and the staff and the school / Having fun can be cool when you’re following the rules,” Reed sings in the video, which has since been viewed more than 363,000 times on YouTube.
Reed told Good Morning America he came up with the idea, wrote the song, and recorded it all in one day.
According to the video’s description, the song and video are meant to “emphasize the reality that hard work is a must, but that school and learning can certainly be fun!”
