Carson Daly’s Breakfast Burrito Bracket: Ham ‘N Scram v. Nick’s Deli

By Sarah Carroll

We went on quite the journey for our final breakfast burrito match-up!

This morning, we taste-tested two of the best spots in Orange County — Ham ‘n Scram and Nick’s Deli.

Carson spoke with the owner of Ham ‘n Scram last month to find out what goes into making the perfect breakfast burrito and it’s safe to say that Forrest has definitely cracked the code!

“It’s different than any other burrito,” Carson explained while eating Ham ‘N Scram’s burrito. “It’s big and it’s chunky and they’ve got hash browns in it and eggs and then their signature ham. It’s robust. It’s in its own league, really.”

“I’m not a big ham guy,” he continued. “But they’re just doing something special.”

You can’t go wrong with a breakfast burrito from Nick’s Deli. It’s classic and its cheese game is ON POINT.

Another bonus? Nick’s has two locations — one in Seal Beach and another in Los Alamitos.

“[It’s] a perfect little pillow of fun!” Carson said of Nick’s offering.

“My thought is I’m disappointed in the tortilla. I just think that it’s been neglected. You have to take care of your tortilla because it’s the vessel that’s holding all this goodness together and if there’s no flame on it, the liquid of the eggs and all of the stuff in the middle will have an effect on [it] and so it starts to break down a little bit and it can get a little mushy.”

Keep in mind, we had to drive these burritos all the way from Los Alamitos to Culver City, so travel time definitely had an impact on how well they each held up.

So, which one advances to the next round? Take a listen below:
