You may not know Josh Forbes’ name, but you’ve probably seen his music video for Walk The Moon’s hit single, “Shut Up And Dance.”
It’s been viewed on YouTube more than 85 million times and is up for Best Rock Video at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards.
But apparently, that doesn’t mean he gets walk the red carpet and to go the awards ceremony like Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and Kanye West. MTV only gives tickets to the eight directors nominated in the Best Director category. All the other directors recognized in the various categories have to buy their own tickets…and they don’t come cheap.
The nosebleed seats cost $450 each and if you want to sit in the orchestra level with all the stars, that’ll set you back $850 per person!
A VMA nomination is the highest honor you can receive if you’re a music video director, so Josh launched a GoFundMe page to raise the money for a couple of tickets. He easily surpassed his $1300 goal in just a few hours.
Earlier this morning, Carson called up Forbes to get his side of the story. Take a listen:
The MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET.
