Scripps National Spelling Bee 2014: Most Memorable Moments Go Viral

For the first time in 52 years, the Scripps National Spelling Bee has ended in a tie.

It all came down to Sriram Hathwar of Painted Post, New York, and Ansun Sujoe of Fort Worth, Texas. When Sriram incorrectly misspelled “corpsbruder,” meaning a close comrade, Ansun had a chance to take the crown, but he too fumbled during his next word, “antigropelos,” which are waterproof leggings.

The teenage boys continued to battle it out for a dozen more words until a tie was finally declared.

The results weren’t the only exciting moment of the evening. There were a couple other clips that ended up going viral on the internet instantly.

For example, pronouncer Dr. Jacques Bailly used lyrics from Kelis’ “Milkshake” to help define the word “Feijoada.” Wait…what?! Watch the painfully awkward gaffe:

And who’s our fan favorite champion? Hands-down that honor goes to 15-year-old Jacob Williamson. During an event where everyone is so buttoned-up and mild-mannered, it was adorable to watch his honest reacations:
