Barbara Walters is officially retiring from television this Friday and to honor her incredible career, the Weekend Update crew at Saturday Night Live invited Babs to appear on the show.

SNL is notorious for parodying Baba Wawa throughout the years, most famously portrayed by the great Gilda Radner.

But the 84-year-old has always been a good sport about it and she got the last laugh on Saturday when she stepped up to the news desk to give the newbie anchors a bit of advice.

“It is fine to make people smile, but the real money is in making them cry,” Walters said. “Nothing brings in the viewers like seeing a celebrity reduced to tears. You may think, ‘Awww, I’m really feeling bad for them,’ but all I’m thinking is ‘Ka-ching!'”

When SNL performer Cecily Strong remarked that she has looked up to Barbara as a role model for women in journalism, Walters killed it with a hilarious zinger.

“But I’m a real news anchor, Cecily. I’m a serious person.”

Strong was quick to hit back, “Oh, but you’re a co-host on ‘The View.'”

“That’s a fair point,” Walters responded.
