It’s officially official!

After a couple weeks of speculation and rumors, we can now confirm that Gwen Stefani will get her own spinning chair next season on The Voice.

Carson made the announcement at the top of Tuesday’s elimination episode, just a few minutes after the No Doubt front woman made the big reveal on Instagram.

it's true! 😜✌️😬 gx @nbcthevoice

Stefani joins fellow new coach Pharrell Williams and veterans Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

“The Gwen Stefani thing was the worst-kept secret in Hollywood,” Carson admitted. “But we’re excited to have Gwen. I mean, she’s one of my favorite people in music.”

“She’s just one of the nicest human beings alive,” he continued. “She’s insanely talented. She’s creative on many, many levels. She’s a perfect fit for our family because we like to think we have a very good group of non-egomaniacs who are actually trying to help people. She just fits the bill.”

After Carson got through that bit of business, he moved on to yesterday’s main event: the eliminations.

The Voice last night was interesting because the bottom three surprised a lot of people,” he explained.

Team Usher’s Bria Kelly, Team Shakira’s Tess Boyer, and Team Adam’s Kat Perkins received the least amount of votes going into the Twitter Instant Save.

“I was shocked that Kat was in the bottom three,” Producer Angie told Carson.

This season, each of the bottom three get one last chance performance before the instant save begins. Kat sang last with a spirited rendition of the Grace Potter song, “Paris (Ooh La La).”

“It’s a great song,” Carson said. “It has good energy. It’s kind of an anthem. The crowd went nuts for it. I think it was kind of obvious.”

“Once Kat got up there, there was almost no question in my mind that she was going to be the one that stayed,” Producer Angie agreed.

Spoiler alert! Kat was eventually saved by the Twitter vote, leaving Team Shakira and Team Usher with only one artist apiece.

Will this be another season dominated by veterans Adam Levine and Blake Shelton? Tune in next week at 8pm PT to watch the top 8 perform!
