Within just a few hours, Ariana Grande’s new single “Problem” has skyrocketed to #1 on iTunes in 40+ countries, so we can’t blame the pop star for celebrating bright and early at 7am.

She staged a full-on dance rehearsal during Mornings with Carson Daly Monday, literally prancing around the studio as Carson premiered the track on AMP Radio.

“Hey, hey! I want to see you drop it down low next time! I need everybody to get up!” she told Carson. “It’s too much.”

“Problem,” featuring Iggy Azalea, is the first single off Grande’s upcoming sophomore album, which she plans to release late this summer.

“We’re looking to put it out around August/September, around there. Same time as Yours Truly last year. I’m really grateful. I got to be a lot more involved in the writing this time because I wasn’t filming [Sam & Cat] at the same time as much.”

“I got to work with Max Martin and Savan [Kotecha] on a lot of it, which was really cool and they wanted me to be as involved as I could be,” she continued. “For some of the biggest guys in the game, they really wanted my input.”

On Iggy Azalea…

Well, I was a fan of hers when she put out “Work.” I loved that song and then I met her at the EMAs. We presented together and then we spent some time together at the after-party and I thought she was really great and down-to-earth and cool.

The thing that I love about her is that her lyrics are so naughty, but she’s such a lady though. You know what I mean? She’s so cute and sensible that way.

On Big Sean…

He’s one of my best friends. He’s like, one of my favorite people in the world…My mom loves him! Literally, Big Sean is my mom’s favorite person, #1. It’s so funny because Sean said to me, “Man, I want to spend a whole day with your mom!” I was like, “Well thanks! I’ll be in the corner, like chilling.”

On how she has changed over the past year…

I never thought I’d have to divide myself into two people and I feel like right now I’ve balanced this perfect balance between Ariana as an artist and as a person in the public and my personal life. I’ve finally done a good job of separating the two.

That was the biggest change for me, realizing, oh, I can’t exactly share everything with the world and I do have to either look presentable when I go out or be comfortable looking like, you know, when I go out, you know what I mean? So it’s been different, but it’s been an amazing journey and I’m grateful.
