Garden State was a film from 2004, which was written and directed by Zach Braff, and also starred Natalie Portman.

The film had a huge cast, which also featured the great Peter Sarsgaard, Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons, and my favorite, an appearance from Method Man of Wu-Tang Clan.

One of the most notable things about this film was the soundtrack. Zach handpicked all the music, saying, “Essentially, I made a mix CD with all of the music that I felt was scoring my life at the time I was writing the screenplay.”  It would go on to win a GRAMMY Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for a Motion Picture.

When I first moved west to Los Angeles, I remember being stuck in traffic downtown and having Coldplay’s song from the soundtrack come up on the iPod.  It was funny because there’s a scene in the movie of Zach stuck in LA traffic with the same song playing.

Anyway, enough babbling and onto today’s Viral Video of the Day.  We get to play a ton of great music on the morning show here at AMP, a lot of which crosses over from other music formats.  I have to admit, I’m kind of digging the new Coldplay song, “Magic,” and hope that this will also make the crossover.

Let’s check out a performance of the song from BBC Radio 1 for today’s video.
