Did Ellie Goulding Cheat On Ed Sheeran? His “Don’t” Break-Up Song May Have The Answers

Step aside, Taylor Swift! There’s a new brokenhearted singer/songwriter in town and he goes by the name of Ed Sheeran.

AMP recently started spinning “Sing,” the lead single from his upcoming album X, but there’s another track on the album that everyone is buzzing about.

“Don’t” is one of Sheeran’s most honest and provocative records to date. It tells the tale of a woman, who many speculate to be Ellie Goulding, cheating on Sheeran during his own party.

“The story in ‘Don’t’ is 100 percent true,” Sheeran admitted to Billboard. “I could have gotten nastier – there was more s**t that I didn’t put in. I was seeing someone for a bit of time, and then they ended up physically involved with one of my friends in the same hotel that we were staying in, while I was downstairs. And I feel like: Treat people how you want to be treated.”

Sheeran and Goulding reportedly dated for a few months last year. We should preface that this is all hearsay at this point, but word on the street is the “Burn” songstress slept with One Direction star Niall Horan.

“If you date a songwriter, be prepared to have songs written about you,” Sheeran warned. “If you do nice things, you’ll have nice songs. And if you do f*****-up things, you’ll get a horrible song.”

Here’s a sneak peek at the lyrics:

I never saw him as a threat, ’Til you disappeared with him to have sex, and I’m downstairs at my party and you’re upstairs doing that, that’s disrespectful.

We make money the same way… you were looking for a lover to BURN.

It's all about the cardigans
