10 Reasons Why AMPLIFY 2014 Was Awesome

Last night was seriously amazing. Thinking about it all makes us want to dream our way back to yesterday, but since we can’t go back in time, at the very least we wanted to look back towards it.

Instead of doing a regular recap, we’re breaking down 10 reasons why AMPLIFY 2014 was awesome.

In no particular order…

1) DJ Vice‘s Hometown Love

The world might be DJ Vice’s playground but the LA-based DJ was showing some hometown love last night. He gave a shout-out to all the beautiful Los Angeles peeps in the audience and he had a whole crew of people cheering him on in the balcony, dancing to every song especially his globetrotter hit “World is Our Playground.”

2) The Rave Cups

We don’t know what the technical term is for a boozy chalice blinking with neon-colored lights, but every time a DJ asked the audience to put their hands in the air (which was a lot, if there was a drinking game for every time that was said, we’d be wasted-face), the cups came up in all their multi-colored glory. Roaming the audience, we even saw some people had rigged their one color cups to blink in three colors.

3) Lil Jon Turned UP For AMPLIFY

Especially when he hit the stage with his latest smash, “Turn Down For What?” The King of Crunk knows how to work the crowd. Wearing a shirt emblazoned with the words “Turn Down For What,” he also threw shirts like that into the audience, “Turn Down For What” Wristbands, and some other candy that the audience was fighting over.

4) Lil Jon Also Turned Up With His 15-Year-Old Son In Tow

Who is also a DJ! Nathan Smith a/k/a DJ Young Slade is Lil Jon’s teenage son and not only does the boy look exactly like his father, he’s an amazing DJ too. Donning those Lil Jon braids and a fisherman’s cap, Young Slade took over the DJ booth for “Turn Down For What” and then assisted his father the rest of the set. Later on, we saw him walking through the main dance area, blending in with all the other kids his age getting down.

5) Afrojack playing Ten Feet Tall with Wrabel

Living in LA grants us a little bit of extra special somethings whenever an artists comes through town. Which is why we were beyond excited when Afrojack brought out his friend and the singer on his latest track ‘Ten Feet Tall’ to join him on-stage to sing the song live. It was beautiful. Of course, Afrojack’s entire set was beautiful, but this moment was pretty wonderful.

6) Confetti Cannons

Seriously, what is better than confetti cannons going off at the pinnacle of song? Literally nothing.

7) Everyone’s Love For Tiësto

Unfortunately, Tiësto had to go to the hospital because he hit his head on an LED screen on the way to the stage at another show (ouch!), but he still got mad love from other DJs including Afrojack and Zedd, who graciously filled in for him at the last minute.  Someone in the audience even made a “Get Well” sign that we’re assuming was meant for the absent Tiësto.

8) Zedd

24-year-old Zedd is one of the newest faces in the EDM game, but he honored Tiësto right, when he saved the day and filled in for the unfortunately missing DJ. Fortunately for the AMPLIFY 2014 audience, Zedd magically answered a tweet from Booker:

And then it went down. Zedd’s performance was killer and brought the whole audience into a dancing frenzy.

9) Matthew Koma Singing with Zedd

As if having Zedd saving the day wasn’t present enough for the AMPLIFY family, he even brought out special guest Matthew Koma on their collab song, “Find You.”

10) YOU

It’s simple. The best part of the night was watching the audience, you guys, have fun! From crazy costumes, wild dance moves, and non-stop fun, you guys are outrageously sexy.

Thank you for joining us for AMPLIFY 2014 and make sure you Tweet and Instagram all your awesome pictures from the night to us using the hashtag #AMPLIFY2014.
