Why Does Peyton Manning Yell “Omaha” All The Time?

T-minus 3 days until Super Bowl XLVIII officially kicks off at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.

There will be plenty of sights and sounds to take in during the big game, but one of the most talked-about moments comes from Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.

If you’re a big NFL fan, then no doubt you’ve heard all about Omaha.

No, not the city in Nebraska. It’s what Manning yells out before every play at the line of scrimmage. We present to you Exhibit A:

What does it mean? Well, the QB tried to explain, albeit sarcastically, during a pre-game press conference.

“I’ve had a lot of people ask what Omaha means and Omaha, it’s a run play,” Manning said with a dead-pan delivery.

“But it could be a pass play, or a play-action pass, depending on a couple of things: the wind, which way we’re going, the quarter, and the jerseys that we’re wearing,” Manning continued. “It varies, really, play-to-play. So, uh, there’s your answer to that one.”

Mystery solved? Yeah, we didn’t think so either.

If you’re the betting type, put your money where Peyton’s mouth is. The over/under for the number times he will say “Omaha” is currently sitting at 27.5.
