Today kicked off GRAMMYs weekend in Los Angeles, and AMP was right in the middle of the action.

McCabe headed down to LA Live for Day 1 of interviews with some of the nominated artists and songwriters.

He spoke with Bonnie McKee, who performed at AMP Radio’s “We Can Survive” concert, Sage the Gemini (You know his track, Gas Pedal!), got serenaded by the crazy talented group, Pentatronix and chatted with Naughty Boy about his track “La La La” (featured on one of AMP Radio’s Beats Music Playlist).

Mary Lambert, featured on the ever popular Macklemore & Ryan Lewis track “Same Love,” gave him some of the details of how the Grammy nominated track came about.

“It was crazy, because all of this happened in a matter of about five hours….I had about two hours to sit with the track. I wrote the hook in about two hours. I wrote four different versions of it. Showed up to the studio, met them for the first time, we tracked it that night….talk about quick!”

Foxes, the featured singer on Zedd’s “Clarity,” also stopped by, and told us her reaction when she found out the song was nominated for Best Dance Recording.

“So this is so funny. I was actually at home. I’d just woken up. I looked at my Twitter and I’m scrolling down I was like ‘Oh Katy Perry’s up for a Grammy, oh everyone’s up for a Grammy…and then I went on my interactions…and it just goes BOOM, like ‘GRAMMY NOMINATED, HOW DO YOU FEEL?….and then I went home screaming.”

Naturally, we had to know how her and Zedd got together.

“We Skyped…he got in touch with my management because he’d heard my song ‘Youth.’ Don’t know how. I’m still not sure how he heard it.”

We’ll be back tomorrow with more from Back Stage at The GRAMMYs.
