We won’t know who the winner of The Voice will be until next Tuesday, but what’s the one thing we do know? They won’t come from Team Blake Shelton!

For the first time ever, the country singing coach does not have an artist advancing to the final round.

Cole Vosbury and his now-famous beard weren’t able to eke out a win, which leaves Team Christina’s Jacquie Lee and Team Adam’s Tessanne Chin and Will Champlin to battle it out during next week’s finale.

Carson brought us all up to speed this morning with a full recap:

“The producer in me was hoping that Blake would have a dog in this fight and I kind of wanted Cole to win just for that reason so that in the finals, it’d be a little more fair,” Carson admitted. “It’d be Adam and Christina and Blake, but it didn’t work out.”

Tuesday’s episode also celebrated a homecoming of several former artists, including performances from Team Usher’s Michelle Chamuel and two previous Team Blake champs.

“Backstage was booming because Danielle Bradbery was back, who won last year. The Swon Brothers are awesome. We were having a good laugh,” Carson described. “We’re very much a family and it felt that way backstage.”

Just one year ago, Cassadee Pope graced The Voice stage with some incredible performances. Carson was particularly impressed with her growth since season three.

“So many alumni came back and it seems like she has gotten that much stronger. Like, she has taken this thing really seriously. Her voice is sounding good, she looked like a star.”

Finale week begins Monday at 8pm PT with a 2-hour episode on NBC!
