You know who’s having the best month ever? Indie-pop duo A Great Big World.

Their single “Say Something” shot to the top of the iTunes charts within mere hours of debuting their revamped version with Christina Aguilera on The Voice.

Just last week, they shared the stage with Taylor Swift and Fall Out Boy at the star-studded Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

And this Sunday, they’ll take the stage alongside Aguilera at the American Music Awards.

Earlier this morning, the group stopped by AMP Radio to tell Carson all about their Cinderella story:

The duo first met while attending college at New York University.

“We were both studying music business and we had a music publishing class together and then Ian made me listen to him play piano,” Chad explained.

“I forced my friendship upon him!” Ian joked.

Their music has been featured on several shows, including Glee, but their big break came when Christina Aguilera heard “Say Something” on So You Think You Can Dance?

Aguilera contacted A Great Big World to suggest a re-working of the ballad and the boys were surprised with the performance she brought to the table.

“We went in to record this version with the thought that she would take a verse and she would do, like, her belty thing at the end and she was like, ‘No, no, no.’ She wanted to keep the song where it was originally and didn’t want to overpower or anything,” said Chad. “She’s been super respectful and amazing.”

When the trio debuted the new version earlier this month on The Voice, it climbed all the way to #2 on iTunes before the episode had even aired on the west coast.

“It’s surreal. When we found out we were so high on the charts, I had to pull over,” Ian described. “I was driving and we were screaming. It feels like when we see our name there, it’s like, that’s not us.”

“Like, who are these guys?!” Chad added.

A Great Big World is well on their way towards becoming a household name thanks to a prime time performance this Sunday on the American Music Awards.

“I’m kind of freaked out about it, honestly.” Ian admitted. “I can’t wait to see Katy Perry and Macklemore.”

“I’m a Justin Timberlake fan.” Chad said.

The music video for “Say Something” dropped yesterday and has already racked up more than 368,000 views on YouTube.

“I feel like it’s about letting go and it’s not just about a romantic relationship and people are interpreting it in all these different ways and we were reading our YouTube comments and we were inspired by three specific stories, so we kind of incorporated them,” Ian said of the surprise hit song.

As the single continues to rise on the Billboard charts, A Great Big World’s schedule is only getting busier and busier. To follow up their AMAs performance, they’ll be appearing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which airs on CBS December 10.

“It’s so crazy that these half-naked women were walking past this piano as Ian’s playing this slow, heart-wrenching ballad,” Chad laughed.

“They were blowing kisses at me and it was interesting,” Ian said.

On New Year’s Eve, they’ll be opening up for none other than Maroon 5 at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay, which seems like perfect timing since they are scheduled to release their first full-length album, Is There Anybody Out There?, on January 14.

“‘Say Something’ is not like the rest of the songs, most of them,” Ian explained. “There’s two ballads on there and the rest of it is upbeat and positive and piano-driven, lots of harmonies, Chad sings on pretty much all the songs with me.”

The group even treated us to a preview of one of their favorites, “Rockstar.” Click on the audio clip below to listen to the brand new track:
