Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Riesling

Vintner’s Reserve Riesling is an off dry take on the German classic and pairs well with many classic holiday foods. This white wine is excellent with any dish that is spicy, salty or sweet. Flavors of apple, apricot, and honey notes are balanced by fresh acidity to cleanse the palate for the variety of dishes on the table.  Amazingly, this understated wine has no problem standing up to turkey or herb-filled stuffing; it’s a truly versatile wine and a real crowd pleaser for those who like a little sweetness.

Holiday Food Pairings: Turkey, glazed sweet potatoes, stuffing with dried fruits and chestnuts, spicy appetizers, roasted Brussels sprouts with apples, green beans with almonds, desserts

If there is only one bottle of white on the table it has to be K-J Avant Chardonnay — period.  No other white wine is so flexible or pairs better with so many different dishes.  Kendall-Jackson Chardonnays are always a favorite across many generations. The Avant Chardonnay is fresh, crisp and clean – a great wine selection for any holiday table. Load up the plate with smoked turkey, gravy, hearty mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and a touch of cranberry for good measure – a chilled glass of K-J Chardonnay will do the rest.

Holiday Food Pairings: Smoked and roasted turkey, salads, vegetables in cream sauces (green bean casserole), roasted squashes (butternut, delicato, acorn), soft cheeses, cornbread stuffing, second day turkey sandwiches and post-holiday turkey soup

Red wine paired with Thanksgiving takes a little more finesse to wow the table.  The most important thing to remember is you don’t want to overwhelm the great dishes you and your friends prepared for dinner – that’s why K-J Pinot Noir is the perfect pairing.  Light enough to pair with light and dark meat turkey, but round and bold enough to keep the “I only drink Red” crowd happy and asking for another glass. Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Pinot has bright red fruit flavors and light tannins so it can also be the beverage of choice pair with football (on the couch or in the backyard).

Holiday Food Pairings: Herb brined and roasted turkey or deep-fried if you prefer, stuffed or sautéed mushrooms, mashed potatoes, cranberry dishes, all bread stuffing recipes, smoked ham

For a richer, more lavish approach to red wine, a K-J Vintner’s Reserve Merlot is about as bold as the dinner can support, but it will support in high style. If your table is full of savory dishes such as roasted vegetables or roasted meats, or maybe you love gravy on everything, you can always go with Merlot.  The bright berry flavors and structured tannins of Merlot allow it to be a beautiful accompaniment to the whole table.

Holiday Food Pairings: Roasted Turkey, duck or pheasant, braised lamb, baked ham, sausage dressing/stuffing, cranberry dishes, leftovers, chocolate desserts
