We all rolled our eyes a little when we heard Tom Cruise say acting was similar to fighting in Afghanistan, but it was fellow actor Mark Wahlberg who stepped up to point out how ridiculous that statement was.

“For somebody to sit there and say ‘my job was as difficult as being in the military.’  How f**king dare you, while you sit in a makeup chair for 2 hours,” Wahlberg said during a Q&A session at the AFI Festival in Los Angeles.

“I don’t give a s**t if you get your ass busted,” he continued to rant. “You get to go home at the end of the day.  You get to go to your hotel room.  You get to order your f**king chicken.”

Here’s a little backstory. During a deposition for his lawsuit against a tabloid magazine, Cruise was asked if he was aware that his counsel had likened his long absences away from his daughter Suri to that of a soldier serving overseas.

“I didn’t hear the Afghanistan, but that’s what it feels like,” he responded. “And certainly on this last movie, it was brutal.  It was brutal.”

Cruise did laugh at the end of the statement, as though to scoff at the idea, but only after a long exchange in which he talks about how difficult his job is.

“There is difficult physical stamina and preparation,” Cruise griped. “Sometimes I’ve spent months, a year, and sometimes two years preparing for a single film.

“A sprinter for the Olympics, they only have to run two races a day,” he added. “When I’m shooting, I could potentially have to run 30, 40 races a day, day after day.”

Watch Wahlberg’s entire response below, but be forewarned, there’s lots of explicit language!
