Over 10,000 people in just one city are feared dead in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, a category 5 hurricane that slammed into the Philippines last week.

If this number is accurate, it would be the country’s deadliest natural disaster. Thousands of people are without shelter, electricity, and cell phone reception, and food and water are in high demand.

There are plenty of ways you can donate to the cause if you want to help.

World Food Programme

The UN organization has already devoted $2 million towards relief in the Philippines. They are working to restore emergency telecommunications in the region in addition to delivering 40 metric tons of rations.

Red Cross

The Red Cross has dispatched emergency responders and volunteers to provide aid and hot meals.

AmeriCares is providing enough medical aid for 20,000 people, thanks to an emergency shipment that includes antibiotics, wound care supplies, and pain relievers.

The organization has also teamed up with local partners to provide $10,000 in relief to the hardest-hit areas.

As many as 4 million children may be affected by Typhoon Haiyan. UNICEF is sending a massive shipment of medicines, nutrition supplies, safe water, and hygiene supplies to children and their families.

Salvation Army

100% of all disaster donations will go towards relief operations. According to the Salvation Army’s website, your contribution will improve living conditions, raise skill levels, increase productivity and instill self-confidence.
