Justin Timberlake & Jay Z’s Rose Bowl Concert Proves They Are “Legends Of The Summer”

When Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z named their tour “Legends of the Summer,” they sure had a lot to live up to.

But let’s not forget, these two titans of the music industry are pros. When they took to the Rose Bowl stage Sunday night in Pasadena, Calif., they did not disappoint.

It was a perfect balance of back and forth, new and old, solos and duets.

AMP Radio was on the scene to witness it all and reported back to Carson this morning with all the highlights.

JT and Hova operate on the cutting edge of the music industry, releasing interactive videos and apps to promote their work, however, they ignited the Rose Bowl with a swag reminiscent of the Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin Rat Pack era.

The duo wasted no time, opening the show with high-energy performance of “Holy Grail.” Throughout the evening, Justin not only performed his own songs, but often subbed in on the hooks of Jay-Z’s songs and chimed in on piano and guitar as well.

The monster set list paid homage to all their greatest hits and featured some new favorites off their recent solo albums.

The lone special guest of the evening, Timbaland, came out to assist Timberlake on “SexyBack,” however, stars including Beyonce, Diddy, Natalie Portman, Rashida Jones, Robert Pattinson, Sia, Demi Lovato, Wilmer Valderrama, Jessica Alba, and more were spotted amongst the crowd.

Time flies when you’re having fun. After two and a half hours of non-stop rocking, JT and Jay-Z toasted each other with champagne before launching into their instant classic, “Suit and Tie.”

Closing the show on a somber note, they continued their tradition of paying tribute to slain teenager Trayvon Martin with a performance of Jay-Z’s “Young Forever.” Nearly 60,000 concertgoers lit up their cell phones as a sign of unity.
