Rolling Stone is known for its iconic magazine covers.

Britney Spears and the infamous Teletubby and Janet Jackson going topless are just a couple that come to mind.

However, the pop culture magazine is taking some serious heat this morning for giving Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev the “rock star treatment” with its latest cover.

Rolling Stone is defending its controversial decision, describing the feature as a “deeply reported account of the life and times of Boston bomber Jahar Tsarnaev.”

Contributing editor Janet Reitman spoke with childhood and high school friends, teachers, neighbors and law enforcement agents to piece together Tsarnaev’s untold story.

Nevertheless, Carson and Producer Angie found the cover completely inappropriate. Take a listen:

“By putting him on the cover, it’s Rolling Stone basically glorifying terrorism, for that matter?” Carson asked. “Look at the cover though. He looks like he could be a Jonas brother.”

#BoycottRollingStone started trending in response to the shocking photo, which shows Tsarnaev pre-bombing casually posing for the camera.

“It’s a desperate attempt by Rolling Stone to be relevant again, I think,” Producer Angie argued. “I feel like they put him on thinking this is going to cause controversy. People are going to talk about it and that’s true. We are talking about it, but when I saw it, I was shocked.”
