The Voice Recap: Blake Shelton & Usher Take Their Artists To The Finals

…And then there were three!

After last night’s suspense-filled elimination, The Voice stage is set for the final round.

Not just one, but two artists were sent packing and that’s not all. Two coaches were cut from the competition as well!

Carson read off the results live Tuesday night and then dished about all the behind-the-scenes details this morning.

Before announcing who America saved, The Voice celebrated with a homecoming of sorts. Former contestants Nicholas David, Tony Lucca, and Terry McDermott all returned to the stage to perform their new singles, which ranged from soul to indie to rock.

The Voice is doing a great job of just creating its own cottage industry of new music,” Carson explained. “I know everyone’s waiting for one of these guys to go all Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson. Someone’s got to pop from the show, we get it, but in the meantime, you’re quietly getting this great new music.

“It’s a matter of time before new music is heavily being influenced by this television show and that’s probably one of the best things you can say about this show,” he added.

Afterwards, it was time to get down to business.

Sasha Allen and Amber Carrington received the least number of votes, so they were eliminated along with their coaches, Shakira and Adam Levine.

“Nobody wanted to be around Adam last night after the show,” Carson admitted. “He cares so much about these kids and he was bummed.”

That means 2-time champion Blake Shelton and newbie Usher are the only ones left with ponies in this race!

Here’s how the teams are shaping up ahead of the finale.

  • The Swon Brothers
  • Danielle Bradbery

  • Michelle Chamuel

  • Sasha Allen – ELIMINATED

  • Amber Carrington – ELIMINATED

Next Monday, the top 3 perform for America’s vote. Tune in at 8pm PT on NBC!
