After several weeks of escaping unscathed, Team Blake Shelton finally faced its first live show elimination on The Voice.

Holly Tucker shed a few tears when Carson announced she had received the fewest number of votes, but luckily the rest of the top five and her coach were there to soften the blow.

What does this mean for the rest of the top 5? Carson and Producer Angie offered up their thoughts on last night’s cut:

“As you know, Blake Shelton was probably the odds-on favorite of losing somebody because he had a full team and that’s exactly what went down last night,” Carson explained Wednesday morning.

To further prolong the suspense, the top six performed a series of duets to pass the time.

“It was a chick night of music. I mean anytime you’ve got The Bangles, and it’s not ‘Hazy Shade of Winter,’ it’s the ballad, and Madonna’s ‘Open Your Heart,’ it was almost like counter-programming against that Kings game that was on,” Carson laughed. “They were just like, ‘Well, no dudes are watching The Voice!'”

Here’s where the teams stand going into the next Monday’s show:

  • Amber Carrington

  • Danielle Bradbery
  • The Swon Brothers
  • Holly Tucker – ELIMINATED

  • Sasha Allen

  • Michelle Chamuel

Just last week, it looked like Team Blake was going to dominate the finals, but now the playing field just got a whole lot more even. The top 5 perform live on Monday at 8pm PT on NBC!
