Memorial Day marks the unofficial beginning of summer, which means we’ll be spending lots of time outside jamming to our favorite tunes!

Every summer, there’s usually that one song that defines the season. Just hearing Nelly’s “Hot In Herre,” Katy Perry’s “California Gurls,” or Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” takes you right back to that moment in time!

This morning, Carson and Producer Angie offered up their own predictions for this year’s hottest tracks!

“I’ve declared this the summer of funk. I mean, it just is!” Carson said. “Watch what happens in March. How many people start having babies because there’s going to be some serious, funky, baby-making music?”

It’s true: the 70s funk comeback is alive and well. Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, and Robin Thicke have all jumped on the bandwagon, but it has really hit its stride with Daft Punk’s latest album, Random Access Memories.

For those of you who haven’t listened to whole album yet, “Get Lucky” is just the tip of the iceberg. Carson is nuts about another track that also features Pharrell called “Lose Yourself To Dance.”

Producer Angie, however, is digging the country vibe and introduced us to a brand new tune from Florida Georgia Line called “Cruise.”

The remix features Nelly and Angie simply describes it as a “fun, fun song.”

“That’s got summer written all over it,” Carson agreed. “You don’t even have to like country music to realize that that’s a fine selection.”
