Carson Daly Plays ‘Crank It Or Yank It’ With The Great Gatsby Soundtrack!

Yesterday’s edition of “Crank It or Yank It” went so well, Carson decided to give it another go today!

The Great Gatsby is not only cashing in at the box office, but also in record sales.

The soundtrack, produced by Jay-Z, debuted at number two on the Billboard Hot 200 chart earlier this week.

Carson handpicked two tracks from the film to play on AMP Radio this morning: Fergie, Q Tip, & GoonRock’s “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” and Lana Del Rey’s “Young And Beautiful.”

You all were loving the Fergie track, including Carson, who called it the perfect song for a Friday out on the town.

“That song is hot!” he said.

“That is a very good song! I’m thinking that whole soundtrack is sounding pretty good,” Christina in Long Beach agreed. “I think it’s the ‘old music’ sound…That beat, that is what makes it great.”

It seemed more people were on the fence with Lana Del Rey’s melancholy ballad.

“I don’t know how I feel about it. I love the song, actually, and I like her on the song and I like it in the texture or context of The Great Gatsby,” Carson explained. “I don’t know how I feel about it as a stand alone.”

Liz from Irvine downloaded the soundtrack after seeing the movie with her daughter and still can’t get enough of Lana’s voice.

“I’ve been listening to it all week,” she admitted. It’s hauntingly beautiful and the more you listen to it, the more I can’t stop playing it. My kids are going to kill me!”

AMP Radio listener Ralph didn’t feel quite the same way.

“That one’s gotta get yanked! You gotta yank it, dump it, and pull it! That’s a good song for a Monday night before you go to bed, but not on a Friday. We’re ready to party today!”

Samantha in Malibu had a particularly hilarious reason why she loves the track.

“It’s kind of like watching The Notebook without having to waste a couple of hours!” she said. “So many of my guy friends have sent me this song and go, ‘Oh my god, have you listened to this?’ And I go, ‘Of course I have! I’m a woman!'”

  • Do you think AMP Radio should start playing either of these songs on a regular basis? We want to get your opinion on this one!
