We’re starting to sound like a broken record, but wow, the talent level this season on The Voice is beyond phenomenal!

Monday night, we got to see what the coaches and artists could do without the art of editing and they did not disappoint.

Teams Adam and Usher took to the stage for the live playoffs. America’s vote will save 2 artists and each coach will choose one more to advance to the finals.

As usual, Carson was in the middle of it all and had plenty to share about yesterday’s incredible performances.

Carson declared Michelle Chamuel’s heartfelt rendition of “True Colors” the big surprise of the night.

Usher had her practice singing with emotion by holding up a mirror to her face during rehearsals.

“She’s always like running around and filled with energy,” Carson said. “During rehearsal, when I was teasing , ‘Coming up, Michelle Chamuel does a Cyndi Lauper song.’ In my mind, I just assumed it was going to be ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,’ or something because it suits her.”

“But having her do ‘True Colors’ and the ballad and just stripped everything away, just [making] her stand there and sing and the whole thing with the mirror and ‘face who you are,’ I’m like, ‘Dude, that was smart.’”

Team Usher’s Cathia took on one of the most daunting challenges of the evening…Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.”

“Got a little snarky comment from Shakira, didn’t you think? I thought she did pretty good with that. I mean, it is an impossible song to do.”

Adam Levine’s ladies all had a solid night. Carson had a hard time predicting who will end up with the short end of the stick on Wednesday.

“Caroline Glaser must be the one, maybe? She was very good too, but the team is so strong.”

The live playoffs continue tonight with Teams Shakira and Blake Shelton at 8pm PT on NBC!
