Carson Daly Breaks Down The NFL Draft!

We’re not a sports station by any stretch of the imagination, but from time to time, we nerd out a little bit when there’s exciting news to cover.

The NFL Draft kicked off Thursday night with Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher getting picked up first for the Kansas City Chiefs.

What were some of the major headlines from the first round? Have no fear, Carson Daly and Producer Angie are here to fill you in on all the major highlights!

A couple big names didn’t make the first round cut thanks to injuries, disappointing seasons, and controversy.

Our local boy, USC quarterback Matt Barkley, is still waiting it out and will likely get picked during the second round.

“Matt Barkley should have gone out last year in the draft,” Carson said. “He probably would’ve done better because SC had a terrible year.”

Heisman winner Manti Te’o, who was infamously duped into a fake online relationship, also did not hear his name called.

Carson is a die hard Oakland Raiders fan, so he asked Producer Angie for a full draft update. The team traded down with Miami so they could have two picks. That left them with the twelfth and forty-second picks.

“The Raiders are in such bad shape their theory was we need so much rebuilding and so much help, let’s have a trade partner,” Carson explained. “We’ll give them our higher pick, but we’ll get more trades. We’ll get more players.”

The Raiders’ twelfth pick went to Houston CB D.J. Hayden, who battled back from a serious setback.

“He almost died!” Producer Angie said. “He got kicked in the chest randomly during practice and he had internal injuries, had to be rushed to the hospital and they didn’t know if he’d ever play football again. And he recovered and played better football than he did before he was injured.”
