First off, drunk driving is no joke. Just don’t do it! Okay? Great.

That being said, nobody got injured, so this story is just pretty darn hilarious.

America’s sweetheart Reese Witherspoon really made a fool of herself Friday morning after her husband Jim Toth was pulled over by police in Atlanta.

Toth was spotted weaving in and out of lanes and when the officer approached him, he reported that Toth smelled strongly of alcohol and was sporting some bloodshot eyes.

Witherspoon could have skated off scot-free, but during the traffic stop, she became enraged, pulling the whole celebrity “don’t you know who I am?” card.

“Do you know my name?” she asked the officer. “You’re about to find out who I am … You are going to be on national news.”

After exiting the car twice against the officer’s orders, she was charged with disorderly conduct. Toth got slapped with a DUI after his blood alcohol content clocked in at .139.

Witherspoon later released a statement apologizing for the entire incident:

“Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that was no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior.”

Witherspoon and Toth will be due back in court on May 22 and May 23 to face the charges.

  • Do you thinkĀ Reese Witherspoon deserves to get the book thrown at her or was her strange behavior just the result of one drunken night? Sound off in the comments section!
