Over the next couple of weeks, Teams Usher, Shakira, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton will be slashed in half thanks to the cutthroat battle rounds on The Voice.

Each coach is currently mentoring 12 musical acts, but they will pair them off in a series of battles and only one move on to the next round.

Carson filmed the episodes just last week and had plenty of behind-the-scenes tidbits to share!

“These battles are all so good, it’s hard to watch really good people go home,” Carson explained to Producer Angie Monday morning.

“That’s why this show I think works is because it’s easy to find good singers from just, you know, a pool of crappy singers. What’s really hard to do is go from really good singers to great singers. That’s a harder move to make.”

Carson shared a preview of one particularly tough face off between Team Adam’s Sasha Allen and Amber Carrington.

Many think Adam Levine has built the strongest team coming out of the blind auditions, but Carson said that could actually work against him in the battles.

“He got himself in the pickle of having these battles with just awesome people and with the steals, he’s serving great singers up to, you know, let’s say Usher or Blake or somebody else who, you know, might have a weak spot or might have room on their roster, if you will, for a powerful female voice.”

Each coach has 2 steals they can use throughout the battles, which makes every decision that more agonizing when deciding between two incredible artists.

But if you ask Levine, he’s not too concerned. While appearing on The Tonight Show last Friday, he made a bold prediction.

“I guarantee that my team will probably win,” the Maroon 5 front man told Jay Leno. “You can’t say guarantee probably, right? You have to say guarantee. I guarantee my team will most likely win.”

Watch the battle rounds begin tonight at 8pm PT on NBC!
