What Is Cheating? Carson Daly & Producer Angie Set Some Boundaries!

It’s the age old question…what do you consider cheating?

There seems to be a fine line between harmless flirting and something more serious.

A new study from the University of Michigan asked hundreds of students to rate from a scale of 0-100, 100 being completely unfaithful, how cheat-worthy certain situations are.

Kissing on the lips was ranked at 88, emailing naked pictures was also ranked at 88, sexting came in at 82.6, going out to dinner was slightly more tolerable at 41.4, and hugging for more than 10 seconds got a score of 34.5.

So naturally, that got all of us on the morning show questioning our own definition of what stepping out means!

“Anything physical is cheating,” Carson explained. “I don’t care if you talk to the guy for three hours on the phone. That’s not cheating to me…but to women, anything emotional is cheating.”

“I feel like the line’s different for every person,” Producer Angie told Carson. “Like some people, it would just be a lunch conversation. That would be it. They’d be done.”

The lady listeners of AMP Radio had a lot to say on this topic and Carson aired a few of your calls.

“To me, it’s anything that you would feel guilty about,” Sarah said. “If you’re sneaking around, if you’re hiding your phone, even if it’s talking, if you feel guilty and you’re hiding it, then it’s wrong.”

Chloe’s been dating her boyfriend for five years and has struggled with other women trying to emotionally connect her man.

“When he’s emotionally there for women that he has a past with, to me, that’s cheating because he gets emotionally involved and he’s their shoulder when he should be my shoulder,” she said. “What’s mine is mine and I don’t want to have to share you with a million other people!”
