As The Voice gears up for it’s final two episodes of the year, Season 2 contestant Tony Lucca told CBS Local his time on the show had a “pretty profound impact.”

“Just the experience alone is like running a marathon. You can put that under your belt and say, ‘I did it!'” Tony said. “Getting to work as closely as I was able to with Adam was really cool. Obviously as things whittle down you get a little more personal, one-on-one time. Having been his finalist I really lucked out there.”

While Tony has previously compared Adam to being a bulldog, he further explained how Adam taught his team of the importance of taking risks.

“If you think about every major event in music history or every artist that ever really made an impact, chances are there was some inherent risks at what they did,” Tony recalled Adam saying. “His quote was, ‘If it doesn’t make you uneasy it’s probably not worth doing.'”

Tony said this was something he really needed to hear.

“The timing of it couldn’t have been better. After some soul searching there I realized, ‘Maybe that’s exactly what my career was lacking. A sense of risk. A sense of taking chances that I wouldn’t have normally taken otherwise,'” he said. “I’m so grateful from walking away with that from The Voice.”

Levine, along with his band Maroon 5, are nominated for 2 GRAMMY awards this year. See what they had to say about their first ever GRAMMY experience on REWIND: Awards Show Edition.
