Carson Daly & Producer Angie’s Holiday Tipping Tips!

The holidays are here, so it’s time to start thinking about gifts for family, friends, and co-workers.

It’s also good manners to tip people a little extra for certain goods and services.

If you’re anything like us, you have NO idea how much to tip or what’s an appropriate gift for people like your UPS delivery person or your manicurist, so thankfully Carson and Producer Angie compiled a list of hints for you to check out!

Child Care

  • Babysitter: One night’s pay, plus a small gift from the child
  • Nanny: One week to one month’s pay, plus a small gift from the child
  • Daycare Provider: $25-$70 each, plus a small gift from the child
  • Teachers, Coaches & Tutors: A small gift from the child

Home & Car Care

  • Housekeeper: Up to one week’s pay and/or a small gift
  • Garbage Collector: $10-$30 each
  • Garage Attendant: $10-$30 or a small gift
  • Gardener: $20-$50
  • Pool Cleaner: The cost of one cleaning to be split among the crew

  • Doorman: $15-80. If there are multiple doormen, consider giving $15 or more to each, or a gift.
  • Superintendent/Custodian: $20-$80 or a gift
  • Handyman: $15-$40

Personal Care

  • Beauty salon staff: Split the cost of one salon visit amongst each staff member who works with you. Another great idea? Give them individual cards or a small gift.
  • Personal Trainer: Up to the cost of one session or a gift.

Pet Care

  • Dog Groomer: Up to the cost of one session or a gift.
  • Dog walker or Pet sitter: Up to one week’s pay or a gift.

Delivery Services

  • Mailman: They can’t accept cash, so a gift under $20 should do the trick
  • UPS or FedEx carrier: Most delivery companies discourage or prohibit cash gifts, so aim for a small gift in the $20 range.
  • Paper Carrier: $10-30 or a small gift
