‘The Voice’ Recap: Team Adam Eliminated!

On Tuesday, we were so excited that four out of the six remaining contestants had charted on the iTunes top 10.

Not only is it great exposure for the artists, but also each download counts as a vote to save them.

It turns out the iTunes effect had a major impact on the results. The only two vocalists who didn’t not crack the top 10 ended up getting eliminated.

Yes, fan favorites Amanda Brown and Melanie Martinez were cut from the competition, which means coach Adam Levine officially has no ponies left in this race.

Perhaps he can be consoled by Christina Aguilera, who lost her only remaining contestant, Dez Duron, last week!

Carson Daly was there to announce the suspense-laden results and he kindly recapped last night’s episode for all of you below:

Even Carson was floored by America’s vote.

“I was surprised when I found out,” he said told Producer Angie this morning. “I was like, ‘Wow, I kind of thought that like Amanda, maybe Trevin, and Cassadee seemed like they were safe.”

And while he wasn’t off-base when it came to Trevin and Cassadee, Team Adam’s Amanda Brown just narrowly missed out on the final slot. Carson believes Nicholas David prevailed in large part because of his song choice.

“I think the fact that Nicholas David picked ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ was such a gamble, but he really did a nice job with it. He didn’t do too much with it. I think Judy Garland saved his life!”

As host of The VoiceCarson has to remain neutral, but he asked Producer Angie who she believes will advance to the final two. “I think it’s going to be Cassadee and Trevin,” she boldly predicted.

Today, Carson will sit down with the final four for a segment on his late night talk show, Last Call and then they will each fly off to different parts of the globe (Terry McDermott is from Scotland, in case you forgot!) to enjoy a hometown visit.

SAVED: Cassadee Pope, Terry McDermott, Trevin Hunte, Nicholas David

ELIMINATED: Amanda Brown, Melanie Martinez
