‘The Voice’ Recap: Top 8 Revealed!

And then there were eight…

After an emotional live episode on Monday, it came time to eliminate two more contestants on The Voice.

The top 10 contestants lined up on stage to hear their fate from our host with the most, Carson Daly.

Who survived the cut? Take a listen to Carson’s recap!

Carson has spent months working with the contestants, going all the way back to the blind auditions, so he feels emotionally connected to them all. He even invited them to the AMP Radio studio this morning for a little bonding session.

“I’m not just saying this because I feel like a proud papa, but the top eight when they come in today, they’re all just really great people inside and out.”

Carson was particularly proud of Cassadee Pope. Her rendition of Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s “Over You” climbed to #1 on the iTunes singles chart, knocking off PSY’s “Gangnam Style” from the top spot.

“I took a shot at PSY last night. I couldn’t help it. I meant it in good fun,” Carson explained. “People were like, ‘Oh, I guess PSY’s never going to be on Last Call.’ I’m like, ‘Listen, the guy’s an anomaly in American music.’…I mean, you know, it was all in fun.”

Unfortunately, America had to send two artists home. Team Christina’s Sylvia Yacoub and Team Adam’s Bryan Keith were cut from the competition.

“I was really surprised Bryan Keith went home,” Producer Angie said. “I didn’t think he’d be going home so early. I thought he was great.”

“He’s from New York. He just kind of sang that Billy Joel,” Carson said. “It was like a love letter to his city and it sounded great.”
