Ellie Goulding Talks To Booker About Learning To Conquer Her Stage Fright

Saturday night, Ellie Goulding took the stage at the House of Blues on the Sunset strip to perform a charity concert with Rita Ora and PSY.  She sat down with 97.1 AMP Radio’s Chris Booker to talk about getting past her stage fright, and the differences between US and UK audiences.

Booker pointed out how her fans in the US have a lot of energy and like to shout out to Ellie on-stage.  She doesn’t mind it though.  In fact she talks about how difficult it can be to get energy from a UK audience.

“I love where I’m from.  It’s my favorite place in the world, but it’s like sometimes you perform there and it’s like you’ve got a lot of work to do to impress people.  There’s a reserved kind of nature with people in the audience in London where you to rile them up.”

The “Lights” singer has spent the last year playing different sized concerts from private rooftop parties, to stadiums with Katy Perry.  She had to learn pretty quickly to get past her stage fright.

“I’m not afraid anymore.” She told Booker.  “It’s gone past that point now.  I get scared before shows, but it’s like an adrenaline/nervousness/excitement, but I really am starting to not have a fear, but in a good way.  I use to get really paralyzed by nervousness.  It wouldn’t be good for my performance, but now I feel…I feel pretty good.”

You can see Ellie Goulding in concert starting early 2013.  She’s announced her “Halcyon Days” tour, starting Jan. 16th in Miami Florida.
