Big news about The Voice this morning! Coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green will not be appearing on the next season so they can tour and pursue other projects.

Our main man Carson hosts the hit NBC show and responded to the surprising announcement.

“We always knew when we started the show that at the time, we had four of the biggest names in music,” Carson explained. “We knew we weren’t going to be able to keep them…They need to go tour and they’ve always known that. They do have lives and that’s part of the reason why the show works because we have current people.”

Aguilera plans to tour for her upcoming album, Lotus. Green will be keeping busy with his Loberace show in Las Vegas and will also be starring in an NBC sitcom loosely based on his life.

The singing competition hired Usher and Shakira to fill their big red swivel chairs.

“We were really lucky enough to get, if you look at it, it’s basically pinch hitters…We got the great Shakira and Usher to come in and they’re going to be in the red chairs…We’re excited for Shakira and Usher. They’re going to be great members of The Voice family.”

And even though The Voice family is growing, Carson says the change in the lineup doesn’t mean Christina and Cee Lo won’t return for future seasons.

“These are their chairs for life, the four [original] coaches. They can always come back.”
