Big Sean will be giving fans an extra treat before the release of his next album. The G.O.O.D. Music rapper has announced that he will release a mixtape entitled Detroit, a nod to his beloved hometown.

According to Sean, he will have some impressive back-up on the street release. On Twitter, the “Mercy” MC gave further details, adding that hip-hop veteran Juicy J and newschool rhyme peer J. Cole will be among the acts featured on the set.

“We trending worldwide #Detroit mixtape!” he tweeted. Ft. Me, J. Cole, Juicy J…. Awe f*** it you’ll see.”

In a promotional video, Big Sean announced that the mixtape will be dropping on September 5th. The video includes a snake, which is wrapped around Sean’s neck and slithering across his body while the rapper stares into the camera.

Sean also dropped clues about his follow-up album to his major label debut Finally Famous.

“We been working hard, everyday for the past eight months,” he explained on Twitter. “And I can honestly say that me, my label, my team are more than excited how my new album sounds. It’s everything I want it to be and more. A true representation of what I stand for, what I believe in, how I live, great story telling, and great production.”

Sean also said that his fans should be expecting the release sooner than later.

“I took my time with it and it made all the difference,” he said. “It will be coming out before the end of year and I can’t f****** wait. We’ll be dropping the 1st track from the album very soon.”  —Keith Murphy, CBS Local
