Producer Angie may be away on vacation, but don’t you worry, we were still plenty hungry enough for another delicious edition of Food Truck Friday.

Today, it’s all about Komodo and their amazing fusion of Californian, Latin, and Southeast Asian flavors.

The boys piled into the AMP Radio studio bright and early today to show off some of their favorite dishes to Carson:

Mike, Thomas, and their other two business partners Eric and Chef Erwin, launched Komodo all the way back in 2009, so they’re one of the O.G. food trucks rolling around SoCal.

Mike, Thomas, and Erwin were all working at the famous Bel Air Hotel’s gourmet restaurant, but were laid off when new management decided to go through a 2-year renovation.

The hotel offered to transfer them to another location, but they decided to roll the dice and start their own food truck.

Luckily, their gamble paid off. Komodo has expanded to 2 trucks and a brick-and-mortar cafe at Pico and Robertson in Los Angeles. They cater weddings and special events, and some of their celebrity clients include Brad Pitt, Tony Hawk, Chris O’Donnell, and Patricia Heaton.

Komodo’s menu offers several different varieties of tacos and burritos, but instead of just cooking up something you can get at any old Taco Bell, they infuse their dishes with Indonesian flavors.

Those authentic ingredients are important to the team. They named the truck after the Komodo dragon, a highly-lethal lizard that has a very weak sense of sight and hearing, so it relies on its sense of taste to survive.

How does that translate to your plate? It means you get a blast of flavor in every bite.

But let’s get to the part you’re all waiting for…what’s in it for you? Carson rewarded one of his listeners with a free office lunch, courtesy of Komodo.

Congratulations to today’s lucky winner, they’re in for a fantastic feast!

Didn’t win today? No worries…Carson invites a new truck to AMP Radio each and every Friday, so there are plenty more chances to get lucky!

For those of you who want to check out Komodo on your own time, take a look at their website or follow them on Twitter!
