We just got our first look at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards nominations about an hour ago and there’s one big name that is missing from the list…Lady Gaga.

Yes, this is the same Lady Gaga that MTV enlisted to open last year’s show with a lengthy Jo Calderone monologue.

So what gives?

Mother Monster didn’t release a new album this year, but she has dropped 2 music videos since last year’s awards show: “You And I” and “Marry The Night.”

The 26-year-old pop star has racked up 13 VMAs and 31 nominations over the past 3 years, so does this mean that Gaga is losing steam?

The MTV VMAs will air live from STAPLES Center on Thursday, September 6th, at 8pm ET/PT.

  • Did Lady Gaga deserve to get nominated this year? Were there any other big snubs or surprises in this year’s VMA nominations? Tell us how you really feel in the comments below!
