Flashback Friday With McCabe: Boy Band Edition

Flashback’s back alright….wait no, Backstreet’s back alright!!!

Much better! Okay, this week’s Flashback Friday is dedicated to the Boy Band.

You know, that group you used to cover your bedroom walls with in posters, photos and magazine cut outs.

The boy bands you would scream for at the top of your lungs when you caught a glimpse of them on TV or in concert.

That group you still secretly have a crush on and would drop everything to see live again.

Well, maybe not that last part, you are pretty busy and not many of your favorite boy bands are still touring, but we can relive the good old days during today’s Flashback Friday!!! Yay for Friday.

Yesterday morning, I woke up to Nick Lachey serenading Kelly Ripa on LIVE! with Kelly. It got me thinking, “Hmm…YOU weren’t always hosting TV shows, Nick. I remember when…”

And that’s when this song (from 2000) popped into my cabeza. I would probably need at least 2 nights.

Now let’s take it back to 1997, when the average price of a gallon of gas was $1.22, the first Men In Black film hit theaters, Mike Tyson took a bite out of Evander Holyfield’s ear, and the Backstreet Boys were back with “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).”

Happy belated birthday to Lance Bass who turned 33 last Friday. I remember back in ’98 when Armageddon hit theaters, the search engine Google was founded (I even googled that to make sure), and your band *NSYNC was “Tearin Up My Heart.”

Boy Band number four was hand picked by my good friend Jake who works in the studio next to me. We’re taking it back to 2000 yet again, when we were all freaking out about Y2K, X-MenMission Impossible 2, and Gladiator all hit theaters, and the original Making The Band debuted on MTV giving us the birth of O-Town. Before Diddy took over the reins, it was all about those “Liquid Dreams,” wait, what?

Now go dance and enjoy the weekend!
