Things are really getting down to the wire at The Voice.

After last night’s dramatic instant elimination, it was time for America to weigh in on who should continue onto the semi-finals.

There’s been lots of discussion as to whether the singing competition should still incorporate the last chance performance and instant elimination next season.

Some say it takes away the voting power from the viewers, but others argue that it puts more pressure on the contestants to perform at their highest level.

Carson shared how he felt about the debate:

On last night’s results show, America voted to keep 1 contestant on each Team Adam and Team Cee Lo. The bottom 4 contestants then got one final moment to prove themselves, but their coaches could each only rescue 1 of them from elimination.

Carson took Tony Lucca out of his misery at the top of the show by announcing that America had voted save him.

Unfortunately, that meant Mathai and Katrina Parker had to go head to against each other in their last chance performances.

Mathai – “Cowboy Casanova”

Mathai is known for performing earthy, soulful pop songs, so it was a big risk to bust out a country song last night.

Blake Shelton was happy that she was embracing her hillbilly side. All the coaches seemed pleased that she was showing more aggression than during her previous performances, but was it enough to save her?

Katrina Parker – “Perfect”

Katrina gave one of the strongest performances on Monday night, but that didn’t stop her from singing for her life with a beautiful rendition of this P!nk power ballad.

Blake took the opportunity to tell America they got it wrong. Although we all saved Tony Lucca, he believes it’s clear that Katrina is the strongest member on Team Adam. Christina Aguilera agreed and added that out of all the singers left on Team Adam, she’s most excited to hear original material from Katrina.

Adam Levine agonized over who he would be sending home. In fact, he rambled on for more than 3 minutes!

Even though Adam believed that both of them had the potential to win the whole competition, he was swayed by Katrina Parker’s game-changing Monday performance and chose to keep her around another week.

After delivering an emotionally powerful performance on Monday night, it came as no surprise that Jamar Rogers received enough votes to continue on in the competition.

His teammates, Cheesa and Juliet Simms, hunkered down for an old-fashioned diva-off and they did not disappoint!

Juliet Simms – “Torn”

This Natalie Imbruglia tune was a surprising choice for Juliet, who usually favors rock songs, but she completely pulled it off with her own signature style.

Christina admitted that she prefers Juliet as a rock singer, but Blake urged Cee Lo to save her because he couldn’t imagine the competition going on without her.

Cheesa – “Already Gone”

With all the support for Juliet, Cheesa had to bring it with the performance of her life. And when you’ve got a power belt like she does, naturally you pick a Kelly Clarkson number!

Cheesa gave it her all, but she was just a hair under pitch for most of the song, which all the coaches made sure to point out.

Cee Lo had to choose from two very different voices. He praised Cheesa for her “accomplished” and “classically trained” voice, which seems to be a perfect fit on a show called The Voice.

On the other hand, he described Juliet’s vocals as art imitating life and “life isn’t perfect…and this is why America, their energy is invested in Juliet.”

Cee Lo decided he couldn’t argue with America, so he ended up saving fan favorite Juliet Simms.

As we head into the semi-final round next week, here are how the teams are shaping up:

  • Team Christina – Lindsey Pavao & Chris Mann
  • Team Blake – Jermaine Paul & Erin Willett
  • Team Adam – Katrina Parker & Tony Lucca
  • Team Cee Lo – Jamar Rogers & Juliet Simms
