Flashback Friday With McCabe Proves It’s STILL “Hard Out Here For A Pimp”

On Monday my friends and I were on the search for a good place to get some lunch.  We ended up walking down to Hollywood & Highland and they had part of Hollywood Blvd blocked off, right in front of the Kodak Theater.  My buddy Josh asked, “The Grammys this weekend?”

We were like, “Dude the Grammys just happened, we’re in front of the Kodak Theater, it’s the Oscars.”   He party rocked a little too hard the night before, so was a bit out of it.

Regardless of his confusion it did remind us all that The 84th Academy Awards are this Sunday!  BEST PICTURE! BEST DIRECTOR! BEST EDITING! So many categories, one big night and a ton of after parties.  If I find one I’ll tweet it to you, so we can all go.

One category that I certainly look forward to is Best Original Song, which has inspired this weeks Flashback Friday.

Let’s take it back to the 78th Academy Awards where it truly was hard out there for a pimp.  Times were tough, pimpin ain’t easy.  It was certainly a good time for Three Six Mafia.  They scored that years Best Song and even performed it live for us.  Take a look back at “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp.”

Assisted by one of the stars in the film, who also provided real vocals in the song, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Taraji P. Henson[/lastfm] stood center stage belting out the hook to the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Three 6 Mafia[/lastfm] smash single: “You know it’s hard out here for a pimp/when you trying to get this money for the rent/ For the Cadillac and gas money spent/Will cause a whole lotta b*tches jumping ship/

Did we mention they walked away with the win that year? Without further ado…
