Our neighbors across the pond in London held their version of the Grammys last night and of course, they couldn’t get through the show without a little bit of controversy.

Adele won 2 awards last night (which is far too few if you ask us!) and during her acceptance speech for Album of the Year, the host abruptly cut her off.

So Adele did what any self-respecting rock star would do…she flipped the bird!

The critically-acclaimed singer was in the midst of a emotional speech about how proud she is to be British when all of a sudden, producers decided they needed to cut to an 11-minute performance from the band [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Blur[/lastfm].

When the host interrupted her, she told the audience, “Goodbye and I’ll see you the next time around.” Then in an act of defiance, she pulled the middle finger.

Adele later apologized for the incident, claiming that her 1-finger salute wasn’t directed at her loyal fans.

I was about to thank the British public for their support and they cut me off, and I’m sorry if I offended anyone. But the suits offended me, so thank you very much for all of your support.

Take a look at how it all went down:

We get that televised award shows have to run on time, but seriously, who interrupts Adele? She’s a British national treasure, for gosh sakes!

  1. Great post, but we Brits wanted MORE controversy. Believe me when I say that the Brits used to be a night where bands would throw buckets of water of high-ranking politicians. And who could forget Pulp frontman, Jarvis Cocker invading the stage whilst Michael Jackson performed Earth Song and bearing arse (that ass to you Americans) at the king of pop? There was actually more controversy than that too, but Adele flipping the bird was the highlight.
