While most are basking in the post-Grammy afterglow of all the deserving Adele wins, there are still some whispers about whether Katy Perry‘s new song that she premiered last night at the awards show, “Part Of Me,” was a direct jab at Russell Brand, what with her less-than-happy-go-lucky delivery and lyrics like “You can keep the diamond ring/it don’t mean nothing anyway.”

Today, a lyric video for the song (which is featured on Perry’s March 27th re-worked re-release of Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection) is out making people wonder if Miss Katy Kat was dealing with Brand-related issues from the word go.

Although rumors tend to always skew things negatively, Perry wrote a demo of this song about a year ago. So is it based on Russell Brand and their break-up? Probably not.

But the timing sure is apropos for its release.
