Talk about increasing your resume! Singer, songwriter, producer, and actor[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Ne-Yo[/lastfm] has added one more title to his current list of jobs: Executive.
The Arkansas born, Las Vegas bred pop star was just named Senior Vice President of A&R at Motor City’s own, Motown Records.
The job of an A&R agent is to find and secure talent, and who better to be in charge of that than multi-platinum-selling artist and the songwriter responsible for some of the last decade’s biggest hits. It’s clear why he was chosen; now we just have to see what he does with his new position.
“I’m a combination of excited, honored and terrified all at once,” Ne-Yo told members of the press when the announcement first went out. But he still remains that he’s ready to face the challenges the new position brings. “Excited about a new beginning here at Motown, honored that I’ve been given such a prestigious title and trusted with such responsibility, TERRIFIED because I know that playing this role, in the fashion of one of my idols and career role models Mr. Smokey Robinson, these are big shoes to fill … But trust, I can handle it.”
Ne-Yo left his first home at Def Jam to take on this job at Motown, where he is also a recording artist. The Execs at Motown are more than glad to have such a distinguished gentleman on their team. “We are honored and humbled to have Ne-Yo as a part of the Motown family, as both a recording artist and in an A&R role,” said Motown senior VP Ethiopia Habtemariam. “We are committed to discovering, developing and nurturing R&B/Soul superstars here at Motown and in Ne-Yo we have both a global superstar and arguably one of the best songwriters in music. His presence on the executive team only strengthens our commitment to the very best in R&B.”
We couldn’t be more proud of Ne-Yo. This is just impressive!

We can understand the addictive nature of tattoos, which is why we weren’t too surprised to find out that [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna[/lastfm] has gotten yet another ink job on her beautiful Bajan skin. We were, however, surprised to learn what she got tatted…on her hands!
The 23-year old singer has been off tour for about a month and took some time to really chill out in Hawaii and has been back in LA for a little bit now. So far, she’s been partying it up and getting inked out. Her latest ink goes ‘Hard.’ She got “Thug Life” written on her knuckles so when she balls them up all you see is “Thug Life.”
Well how about that? We never took Rih-Rih for the Gangsta type, but we probably shouldn’t be too surprised, she proved her G status on the beaches of Hawaii during her last vacay.
She shared the news with her fans via Twitter, which has become custom. “All these b*tches screaming that 2pac back ♫ #THUGLIFE,” tweeted Rihanna. This makes for tat number 15. No doubt, then that this new ink is an homage to late, great rapper [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Tupac Shakur[/lastfm].
But she didn’t just get work done. She also hung out with some famous Hollywood-ites, like “Grindhouse” actor Danny Trejo.

You’ve seen The X Factor, America’s Got Talent, The Voice, So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Best Dance Crew, and now you get the newest form of talent shows: Who is the Best DJ?
While that likely won’t be the title of Simon Cowell‘s newest talent show, that’s the basic idea. Creator of shows like American Idol, The X Factor, and America’s Got Talent, Cowell has a real knack for knowing how to pick talent out of these country-wide casting calls.
If you’re wondering “why now?” Simon Cowell thinks that a DJ show is just what we need. “DJs are the new rock stars. It feels like the right time to make this show,” he said in a statement.
He does have a great point though. DJs like [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Afrojack[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]David Guetta[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Skrillex[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Deadmau5[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Swedish House Mafia[/lastfm] and more are experiencing some of their broadest success right now. And Electronic dance music (EDM) is going crazy and getting bigger everyday.
No specifics on judges or rules of the new talent game show, but we do know that the show will be co-produced by SYCO, Cowell’s joint venture with Sony Entertainment and Overbrook Entertainment, the production company [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Will Smith[/lastfm] founded.
As soon as we know more, we’ll clue you in. Stick with us!
