If you were watching Carson’s red carpet arrivals special on NBC, then perhaps you saw his interview with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Elton John[/lastfm].

Things were going well until Carson asked him about the other nominees in his category for Best Original Song.

Out of nowhere, Elton came out swinging claiming that [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Madonna[/lastfm] had no f**king chance of winning.

Say what?? Carson had to get to the bottom of this red carpet spat and he shared with us all the juicy details of what it was like to be in the middle of it all!

Carson had no idea what he was getting into with Elton and was a little shocked at his harsh words. He figured [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Madonna[/lastfm] and Elton had been friends for years!

So when [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Madonna[/lastfm] rolled up to the podium, Carson had to break the news to the Queen of Pop about what Elton had said. She kept it classy when she responded with, “may the best man win.”

But that was only just the beginning of the drama.

When [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Madonna[/lastfm] ended up winning the Golden Globe for her song, “Masterpiece,” Elton was spotted looking none too pleased in the audience.

And that’s not all! Elton’s husband, David Furnish, later blasted [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Madonna[/lastfm] on Facebook saying: “Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism. And her criticism of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Gaga[/lastfm] shows how desperate she really is.”

Meow! The claws are really coming out!

This morning, Carson gave his two cents on how everything really went down on the red carpet:

So who are you siding with: [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Elton John[/lastfm] or [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Madonna[/lastfm]? Vote in our poll below!
